It’s tempting to use the Uploads folder as a quick dumping ground for all your images. You’re in the middle of a project, so you toss files in there, thinking you’ll sort them later. But what starts as a convenient shortcut often leads to an unmanageable pile of files that are hard to sift through when you need them.

This doesn’t just apply to Canva—this is a principle we see in every part of life, whether in business or at home. When we organize as we go, it’s *so much easier* than trying to deal with a big mess later. A little effort upfront saves a lot of time and energy in the long run.

Rather than letting your Uploads folder fill up with random files, take a few extra seconds to put your images directly into custom folders. You’ll thank yourself later when you can instantly locate exactly what you need, instead of hunting through a maze of disorganized images.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to easily upload images right into the folders where they belong, so you can skip the chaos of a cluttered Uploads folder and maintain a more efficient Canva workspace.

Keeping your Canva account organized is key to staying efficient, especially as your image library grows.

The Uploads folder may seem convenient at first, but it quickly becomes overwhelming when you’re trying to locate specific images in a sea of unorganized files.

But by using custom folders instead to house and organize your images, you can easily keep everything in its place, making it so much faster to find what you need when you’re in the middle of a project.

And here’s the thing—it’s *far* more efficient to upload your images directly into these custom folders, rather than putting them in the Uploads folder first and then having to move them afterward.

To upload images into a custom folder, start by opening the folder where you want the images to live and then you have two easy options.

First, you can click the “Add New” button at the top of the folder, and then choose Uploads to select files from your computer. Once selected, they’ll be uploaded right into the folder.

Or, if you want to save even more time, you can drag and drop images directly from your computer into the folder.

Both options let you skip the cluttered Uploads folder altogether, keeping your Canva workspace organized from the moment your images are uploaded.
