For most users, there isn’t a permanent free option for Canva Pro. The free trial gives you full access to everything Pro includes for thirty days, but it requires a payment method and converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before then.
That said, there are a few things worth knowing before assuming paid is your only option.
Canva for Education
Canva offers free access to premium features for eligible K–12 teachers and students through its Canva for Education program. If you qualify, you can apply directly through Canva’s website. This program is specifically for educational use and isn’t available to general business users.
Canva for Nonprofits
Registered nonprofit organizations may be eligible for free access to Canva Pro through the Canva for Nonprofits program. Eligibility requirements and availability vary by country, and applications are reviewed by Canva directly. If your organization qualifies, it’s worth applying — but the program has specific criteria and isn’t guaranteed.
What About Canva Lifetime Deals?
If you’ve seen offers for a Canva lifetime subscription — a one-time payment for permanent Pro access — those aren’t legitimate.
Canva doesn’t sell lifetime licenses, and offers like these are typically scams or unauthorized resellers.
Purchasing through one of those channels puts your account and payment information at risk. The only place to purchase Canva Pro is directly through Canva’s official website.
For Everyone Else
If you’re a small business owner or general Canva user, the free plan remains available with no time limit and it’s a genuinely capable starting point that gives you access to over 1.6 million templates and 4.7 million free elements. The 30-day free trial is the only way to access Pro features at no cost, and Canva only offers one trial per account.
If you’re weighing whether Pro is worth it for your business, my post on what you can do with Canva Pro that you can’t do for free covers every feature difference in detail.
