Canva Create 2024 is here and as part of their May 2024 updates, Canva is introducing two primary changes: Canva Redesigned (aka The Canva Glow Up) and Work Redesigned.
You can view a complete list of new releases and updates launched at Canva Create at the bottom of this post, but I’m also providing the highlights below, so read on to learn more about those.
While it’s in a fresh new package, it’s still the Canva you’ve always loved.
Canva Redesigned = The Canva Glow Up
The Canva Glow Up includes five key components:
- More Freedom to Create
- Enhanced On-Brand Editing
- Upgraded Visual Suite
- Enhanced Collaboration
- Supercharged Magic Studio

#1: More Freedom to Create
Redesign of Canva Homepage & Editor (New)
To design Canva for work, they have redesigned Canva itself!
The Canva homepage now allows personalization and a cleaner interface (no more homepage with 3 gazillion options to choose from), plus the mobile and tablet editors have been improved.
Note: The redesigned homepage and editor will be rolling out gradually so if you don’t have it yet, rest assured that your account will see the updates in the not too distant future.
Additionally, Canva’s editor has been revamped for clutter-free editing with a new object panel and a floating toolbar that only displays relevant actions.
#2: Enhanced On-Brand Editing
On Brand Layouts (New)
- Layouts creates on-brand layout suggestions by matching the style of your brand guidelines or brand templates.
Style Match (New)
- Allows applying design styles from the Canva marketplace or branded designs with one click.
#3: Upgraded Visual Suite
Canva Docs Features (Upgraded)
- Introduced highlight blocks, new formatting options, AI-powered sorting, and video highlights.
Canva Whiteboards (Upgraded)
- Enhanced with AI-powered sorting for sticky notes.
Suggestions and Outlines in Docs (Upgraded)
- Enabled suggestions within docs and added outline feature for quick navigation.
#4: Enhanced Collaboration
Commenting System (Upgraded)
- Improved with options to expand, hide, and filter comments.
Starring for Teams (Upgraded)
- Allows team admins to star and share important resources.
#5: Supercharged Magic Studio
Magic Grab (Upgraded)
- Enhanced to edit, reposition, and resize individual objects within a photo.
Magic Write (Upgraded)
- Generates unique text in user’s tone of voice using sample text.
Resize and Magic Switch (Upgraded)
- Instantly resize, transform, and translate designs.
Magic Media (Upgraded)
- Expanded to generate graphics in addition to images and videos.
Work Redesigned
Now that Canva has redesigned its interface and given it a Glow Up, they’ve also unlocked tools and templates for enhanced visual communication, collaboration and productivity across 4 specific departments, including Human Resources, Marketing, Sales and Creatives.
In particular, they have introduced their Work Kits, which are a collection of specialized templates and resources tailored to specific professions, to provide inspiration and help kickstart projects.
