If you’re someone who’s used to uploading all your images into Canva’s Uploads folder, you’ve probably noticed that it can quickly turn into a bottomless pit where things are hard to find. Since there’s no way to organize files directly within the Uploads section, I always recommend creating a custom folder system to keep your images organized and easy to locate.
And I have another tutorial that talks more about why and how to stop using the uploads folder. You’ll find a link to that below this video.
But when you’re in the middle of working on a design, you might wonder—where do you actually access those images if they’re stored in custom folders instead of Uploads?
To access your custom folders while you’re in the design editor, start by looking at the left-hand sidebar menu, where you’ll see options like Elements, Uploads, Text, and Projects. Click on Projects to access your saved media and folders. This setup allows you to bring in your organized content without ever leaving the editor.
Within the Projects section, you’ll notice several tabs across the top. Select the Folders tab to view all of your custom folders. Here, you’ll find the organized collections you’ve created, whether they contain uploaded images, videos, or Canva stock elements you’ve saved for easy access. You can either browse through these folders or use the search bar to locate a specific one if you have several folders.
Once you’ve found the folder you need, simply click to open it, and all the media within that folder will appear right in the editor. From here, you can drag and drop images, icons, or elements directly into your design. This setup makes it incredibly easy to keep everything you need close at hand, reducing the time spent searching for items and helping you stay focused.
