Copying and pasting elements between pages in a Canva design is a great way to maintain consistency and save time. However, if you’ve ever pasted an element onto a new page and found that it’s not landing exactly where you expected, you’re not alone.
Why Placement Can Shift
When you copy an element from one Canva design page and paste it onto another, you’d probably expect it to appear in the exact same position—but that doesn’t always happen.
Based on my experience, this seems to be influenced by how much of the destination page is visible when pasting. If only part of the page is on-screen, whether due to zoom level or scrolling, the placement may shift slightly. The most reliable way to avoid this is to ensure the full page is visible before pasting.
How to Copy & Paste Elements in the Exact Same Spot
I would recommend you start by adjusting your zoom level so you can see your full Canva pages. Then, find the element you want to copy, select it, and use the copy shortcut which is Cmd-C on a Mac or Ctrl-C on Windows.
At this point, you can navigate to the next page, again making sure that you can see the whole page, and paste the element using Cmd-V on a Mac or Ctrl-V on Windows.
It should paste in the exact same spot. If it doesn’t, undo the paste and then you may need to make sure that you’ve selected the destination page.
If you’re pasting onto multiple pages, repeat the process, ensuring each page is fully visible on-screen before pasting.
