The wait is finally over!

As part of Canva’s October 2024 Droptober release, automatic page numbering has arrived—a feature so many of us have been waiting for.

Until now, adding page numbers in Canva meant manually creating a text box for each page, adjusting the formatting, and hoping everything stayed aligned. And every time you changed your document length, you’d have to go back and re-edit the numbers to keep them accurate. It was a bit of a headache, to say the least!

Now, with Canva’s automatic page numbering, it’s as simple as a few clicks. Open your multi-page document, head to the Text section, and you’ll see a new option called “Dynamic Text.” Click “Page Numbers,” and Canva will instantly add numbers to each page in your design, saving you loads of time and effort.

Canva gives you a few options to choose from for the page number format: numbers only (like “1”), “Page” followed by the number (such as “Page 1”), or a “Page X of Y” format (for example, “Page 1 of 10”). Just pick the one that fits your document’s style best.

Once added, you can style the page numbers however you like—click on a number to adjust the font, colour, size, and placement, just like you would with any other text element. When you’re happy with the look, simply apply the styling across all pages for a consistent finish.

You can also decide which pages display the numbers. Canva will automatically keep the numbering sequence on all other pages.

One quick note: while this feature offers a lot of flexibility, Canva doesn’t yet support alternating left and right page numbers. For now, page numbers will appear in the same spot on each page, but you can manually adjust them if needed.

This feature is sure to save you a lot of time in your projects, whether it’s a client proposal, a lead magnet, an onboarding guide, or whatever other types of multi-page documents you need to create in your business.
