If you’ve placed a logo or graphic from Canva onto a coloured background and ended up with an unwanted white box around it, it’s a download setting, not a design problem. One checkbox fixes it, but it only appears for certain file types, which is where most people get stuck.
This is a Canva Pro feature. If you’re not on Pro yet, you can start a free trial here before following along.

If you’ve ever downloaded a logo or graphic from Canva and ended up with a white box around it, the issue is usually the download setting. To place a logo or graphic cleanly on top of another design, you need to download it with a transparent background.
It’s important to note that is a Canva Pro feature, so if you’re not on Pro yet, you can start a free trial in order to take advantage of transparent backgrounds.
Open the design you want to download in the Canva editor and then go to Share in the top right corner. Click Download, and then in the download panel, you need to select either PNG or SVG, as the transparent background option only appears for these two file types. If you choose JPG, PDF, or anything else, that checkbox won’t show up.
Once you’ve selected PNG or SVG, you’ll see the Transparent background checkbox and you can select it, then click Download. Canva will process the download and save it to your device.
