If you’ve been organizing your Canva account but aren’t sure if you’ve filed everything into folders, there’s a simple way to check. Head to your Projects tab, where all your designs, images, and folders are stored.

To get a clear view of what files are still loose, you’ll want to adjust the Owner filter to be set to your account name instead of “Any owner.” This ensures you’re only seeing your own designs rather than shared files from others. If you leave it as “Any owner,” Canva will surface older designs and images that may have already been placed into folders, making the Projects page feel cluttered and confusing. I do anticipate Canva will refine this in the future, but for now, if you want a clear understanding of what still needs to be organized, filtering to your own project files is the best approach.

Once filtered, take a look at what’s left on the page. If you still see any designs, that means they’re loose files that haven’t been sorted into folders yet. If you see images, they’re still sitting in your general Uploads folder and need to be moved into a more structured system. If you’re still relying on the Uploads folder to store your images, I highly recommend watching my Stop Using the Uploads Folder tutorial, where I walk through a better way to keep your images organized.

The goal is to reach a point where, when you look at your Projects page, the only things you see are folders—essentially achieving a clean slate, similar to inbox zero for your Canva files. This not only helps you find what you need faster but also makes working in Canva a much more efficient and stress-free experience. When everything has a place, you can focus on creating instead of digging through digital clutter.

If you’re still seeing loose designs or images, start by moving a few into the right folders. Every step you take brings you closer to a more streamlined and manageable Canva workspace!
