One of the simplest ways to make Canva feel less overwhelming is to stop starting from scratch every time you need a new design.

When you find a template that really works for you — whether it’s the layout, the typography, the spacing, or just the overall feel — there’s a creator behind it. And chances are, they’ve designed other templates in that same style.

Instead of hoping you come across their work again later, you can follow them so you can find more of their templates quickly and easily whenever you need something new.

When you click into any template, you’ll see the creator’s name on the template details page. If you click on that name, it takes you to their profile.

On their profile page, you can browse through all the templates they’ve created. If you notice that their design style consistently aligns with your brand, you can click the Follow button. That way, you’re building a shortlist of designers whose style already fits what you’re trying to create.

Once you’ve followed creators, Canva keeps them organized for you. Inside the Templates area, there’s a Creators section where you can easily access the designers you’ve chosen to follow. Instead of searching across millions of templates, you can begin with a much smaller, more relevant group.

There’s one more thing worth knowing about creator profiles that makes this even more useful.

You can search within their collection. So if you love someone’s style but you specifically need an Instagram carousel, a presentation, or a workbook layout, you can type that into the search bar on their profile and narrow their templates down by keyword.

That means you’re not just following creators — you’re building a curated pool of templates that already feel like yours.

One thing worth knowing as you explore creator profiles — some of their templates will be marked with a crown icon, which means they’re premium and require Canva Pro to use. If you find that the templates you’re most drawn to tend to be the premium ones, that’s worth paying attention to.

You can start a free Canva Pro trial at brendacadman.com/upgrade and if you already have a Canva account, it just upgrades your existing plan. You won’t lose any of your designs.

Over time, this approach saves a surprising amount of time.

You’re no longer scrolling endlessly — you’re choosing from designers whose style you already trust. That’s a small shift that makes the whole process feel considerably more intentional.
