Sometimes you might want to use a font in Canva that isn’t part of its built-in library. Maybe it’s one of your official brand fonts, or maybe it’s just a typeface you’d like to use for a specific project. Either way, you’re not limited to Canva’s default font selection because you can upload your own fonts through Canva’s Brand Kit, so you have access to the exact typefaces you want to use in your designs.

Now a heads up that the ability to upload your own fonts is only available to Canva Pro, Teams, Education, and Nonprofit users, so if you’re currently on a free Canva account, you’ll need to upgrade to access this feature.

To upload a font, go to Brand, then select Brand Kits and find the brand kit you want to add a font to.
Scroll down to the fonts section and look for the “Add New” button. When you click on that button, you’ll see the “upload a font” option, and then from there, choose the font file from your computer.

Before uploading, Canva will ask you to confirm that you have the rights to use that font. This is an important step, and you’ll need to only upload fonts you’ve purchased or obtained legally from your designer or another trusted source.

Once your font has been uploaded, it will appear in your Brand Kit and automatically become available in the font dropdown menu inside the Canva editor.

To access it while you’re working on a design, simply select your text box and click the font name in the toolbar at the top of your screen. You’ll find any uploaded fonts listed below your Brand Fonts section, right above Canva’s standard font library. From there, you can apply it to any text in your design, just like you would with any of Canva’s default fonts.

Adding your own fonts gives you the flexibility to use the exact typefaces you want, whether you’re maintaining brand consistency or just bringing a specific creative idea to life.
