If you’ve ever been frustrated by having to manually recreate a folder structure when uploading files to Canva — for example, a set of product photos that was already sorted into subfolders on your computer — this new update is going to make your life so much easier!
Canva now allows you to upload entire folders, not just individual files, so you can maintain your organization as you move your content into Canva.
This is an incredibly useful update for anyone who already has neatly categorized images, graphics, or assets stored on their computer.
To upload a folder, open your Canva account (and note that this feature isn’t available on mobile, only on the desktop version). Navigate to the Projects section in the left-hand menu, and then you can either click “Add New” and select “Upload a Folder”, or simply drag and drop a folder directly into Canva. Canva will automatically recognize and recreate your folder structure, including any subfolders within it.
Here’s an example of how this might work in a real-world scenario:
Imagine you’re a retailer managing an online store, and you have a collection of product images neatly organized into folders on your computer. You might have a main folder labeled Product Photos, with subfolders for different product categories like Candles, Soaps, and Gift Sets.
Previously, you would have had to manually recreate this structure in Canva, uploading one folder’s contents at a time into newly made folders. Now, with this update, you can simply drag the entire Product Photos folder into Canva, and it will automatically generate and populate the subfolders for you with your images, preserving your existing structure.
This feature helps you maintain your organization instantly, saving you from the frustration of re-sorting everything after uploading.
